On January 10th at approximately 6:38 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 151 at the intersection with County Highway O in Platteville Township.
Steven Jantzen, a 29-year-old resident of Potosi, was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla eastbound on County Highway O. At the intersection, he came to a stop. Jordan Flogel, a 33-year-old resident of Platteville, was driving a 2014 Ford F-150 southbound on Highway 151. Flogel was in the right lane when Jantzen attempted to turn northbound onto Highway 151. Tragically, Jantzen directly collided with Flogel’s vehicle. Flogel tried to avoid the accident but was unable to do so. The F-150 struck the front driver’s side of Jantzen’s Corolla, causing it to come to a stop in the left southbound lane of Highway 151. Flogel’s vehicle ended up in the ditch on the west side of the highway.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage, necessitating airbag deployment and towing from the scene. Despite wearing seatbelts, Jantzen and Flogel reported minor injuries but declined medical attention after being evaluated by EMS. Jantzen was subsequently cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way from a Stop Sign.
The Platteville Fire Department, Southwest Health EMS, Donnie’s Tire and Tow, and Precision Automotive responded to the scene and provided assistance.
