September 17, 2024 Grant County, Wisconsin, 34-year-old Erin Marie Ruberg of Dubuque was found guilty of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle, a Class D felony, as per Wisconsin Statutes 940.09(1)(a).Ruberg was sentenced to 6 years in prison.

On June 8, 2023, at approximately 1:00 pm, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 81 and Settlement Road, located within the Township of Cassville.

Erin Ruberg, aged 33, was traveling southbound on Settlement Road in her 2014 Toyota Highlander. She came to a “rolling” stop at the stop sign and subsequently pulled away from the stop sign to continue southbound on City Y. Concurrently, Gerald Dukett, aged 52, was traveling eastbound on Highway 81 in his 2000 GMC Yukon Denali. Ruberg pulled out in front of Dukett’s vehicle, causing him to strike Ruberg’s passenger side. This collision resulted in both vehicles crashing into the ditch at the southeast corner of the intersection.

Dukett’s vehicle also rolled onto its passenger side, ejecting him from the vehicle. Tragically, Dukett was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ruberg sustained minor injuries in the accident. Following an investigation and field sobriety tests, Ruberg was determined to be intoxicated and subsequently arrested for Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle.
