On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 2:50 p.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a semi-tractor trailer on County Road K, near Hilldale Road, within the Town of North Lancaster.

During the ensuing investigation, it was determined that the 61-year-old driver, Melvin Vize of Dubuque, was operating a 2015 International semi-tractor trailer, towing an empty cargo trailer, southbound on County Road K. Due to elevated winds, the semi-tractor was compelled to exit the southbound lane and enter the northbound lane, resulting in a lateral overturn onto its side.

Mr. Vize sustained minor injuries and was not necessitated for hospitalization. The Wisconsin State Patrol conducted an investigation of the incident and remained on-scene for approximately three hours, facilitating the removal of the vehicle by Guys Towing from Kieler. Additional support was provided by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Grant County Highway Department, Lancaster Fire Department, and Lancaster EMS.
