Christine Smith, a 36-year-old woman from Dubuque, has been sentenced to approximately seven years in federal prison for weapons charges. She pleaded guilty to a single count of unlawful transport of firearms.

Smith was arrested and charged by the Dubuque Police on August 20, 2023, after intimidating a woman with a handgun. She faced charges in Iowa District Court for dominion/control of a firearm/offensive weapon by a felon. However, these charges were dismissed on March 27, 2024, by Judge Michael J. Shubatt.

  • Controlled Substance Violation (Class D Felony): Dismissed by court on 03/27/2024.
  • Harassment – 1st Degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor): Dismissed by court on 03/27/2024.
  • Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon (Class D Felony): Dismissed by court on 03/27/2024.

Dubuque District Court Judge Michael J. Shubatt dismissed the state charges, and Smith was subsequently charged in Federal Court in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
