Dubuque, IA, October 22, 2024 – This morning, the Dubuque Police Department K-9 Unit conducted an unannounced walkthrough of the parking lots at Dubuque Senior High School. These random checks are part of routine safety measures implemented throughout the district.

During the same timeframe, but unrelated to the K-9 unit’s presence, school officials and Dubuque Police confiscated an airsoft pistol from a student’s backpack. The discovery was made following a report from another student. It is important to note that the airsoft pistol was never removed from the backpack or displayed in a threatening manner.

To prevent the spread of rumors or misinformation, school authorities emphasize that these two occurrences are entirely unrelated.
