On 7/21/24, at approximately 12:56 am, an on-duty Fennimore Police Officer spotted a vehicle with heavy front damage weaving outside its lane of traffic. The officer initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed, heading southbound on Lincoln Ave. The Fennimore Police pursued the vehicle, which increased its speed to 96 mph in a 35 mph zone within the City of Fennimore. The pursuit was terminated, and dispatch was alerted.

Shortly after the pursuit was terminated, it was reported that the suspect vehicle had rear-ended another vehicle on the north side of Fennimore. The vehicle continued southbound on Hwy 61, where a Grant County Sheriff Deputy located it north of the City of Lancaster, traveling at 108 mph in a 55 mph zone. A pursuit was initiated, and the driver continued southbound into the City of Lancaster. The driver attempted to elude law enforcement but eventually came to a stop in Lancaster and was taken into custody.

The driver was identified as Ali M. Hassan, age 27, of Stoughton. Following an investigation, Ali was arrested for Fleeing/Eluding an Officer, Operating while Intoxicated – 3rd Offense, Operating after Revocation, Failure to Install an Ignition Interlock Device, Illegal Possession of Prescription Medication, and a Probation Hold. Ali is currently on probation for Fleeing/Eluding an Officer and Armed Robbery. He had his initial appearance and is being held in the Grant 

County Jail on both a $1000 cash bond and a Probation Hold.

Persons arrested or referred for charges by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. An arrest only indicates probable cause for charges.
