A fatal motorcycle crash took place on July 11, 2024, near the intersection of Highway 35 and Budworth School Road.

Joseph Foppe, 58, from Texico, Illinois, was riding his 2023 red Harley Davidson motorcycle with a group of other bikers when he lost control and collided with a guardrail. Despite efforts from witnesses to save him, Fopp was pronounced dead at Grant Regional Health Center after being transported there by EMS. Multiple agencies, including the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and various emergency services, responded to the scene to assist.
