DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Dubuque Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the 2500 block of Broadway Street on July 9, 2023. Officers were dispatched following reports of gunfire resulting from a disturbance at around 2:30 AM. Upon their arrival, they found four adults with gunshot wounds. The injured individuals were promptly transported to local hospitals in Dubuque. Tragically, 36-year-old Allen Taylor died from his injuries. The other individuals who were injured have been identified as Levon’ta Collins, 24, from Dubuque; Francis Thompson, 36, also from Dubuque; and Tyrell Saunders, 24, from Coralville.

In November 2023, we contacted Lt. Brandon Welch, who indicated that an arrest was made on that day for a warrant unrelated to the incident. Evidence was being sent to the crime lab, and follow-up interviews were still being conducted. As of today, July 9, 2024, the police still have no leads on who was involved and are continuing their investigation.
