
On June 19, 2024, at 12:48 pm, a structure fire was reported at 370 Kaufmann Ave. in Dubuque, IA.
The Dubuque Emergency Communications Center received a call from a Dubuque Police Officer about a house on fire with heavy smoke. The Dubuque Fire Department quickly responded, with 14 firefighters initially arriving on the scene in vehicles such as Command 528, Engine 501, Engine 503, Engine 506, Truck 512, and Medic 552.
Upon arrival, Command 528 reported a working fire with smoke visible. Fire engine 501 assessed the situation, noting smoke on the front porch extending upward. Children were evacuated from the residence by the police, and the firefighters acted swiftly to extinguish the fire and check for any extension. Fortunately, no occupants were hurt, and the house was deemed habitable after the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Assistant Chief Marshal’s office. Crews remained at the scene for two hours for cleanup and further investigation, and thankfully, there were no injuries to the occupants or responders involved.
