A Dubuque man who has been charged with killing his mother and the family dog has been given permission to undergo a psychological evaluation.
Tyler Dazey was taken into custody in January after the murder of his mother, Jennifer Dazey, at their residence.
Dazey’s lawyer recently submitted a motion stating their intention to enter a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity or mental incapacity.
In response, Judge Thomas Bitter has approved the request for a psychiatric examination. The evaluation is expected to be finalized within the next week, and a review has been scheduled for February 21st.
