On October 5, 2023 at 9:30 A.M., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an incident on South Third Street in the Town of Muscoda.

The Sheriff’s Office was informed that a Stephen Goodman, age 53 of Buckeye Arizona, was in possession of a semi auto handgun and had been seen with it in his hand. It was also reported that Mr. Goodman is a convicted felon. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Mr. Goodman is a convicted felon and deputies responded to location where Mr. Goodman was located. Sheriff Deputies and the Muscoda Police made contact with Mr. Goodman outside a residence on South Third Street, where he was arrested. A search of the area was conducted and a semi-auto pistol was located and seized by the Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. Goodman was transported to the Grant County Jail, where he remains in custody. This matter will be referred to the Grant County District Attorney’s Office.

Persons arrested/or referred for charges by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. An arrest only indicates probable cause exists to bring formal charges. The names of victims and witnesses to a crime have been withheld per Wisconsin Statute §950.04
