Plattville Wisconsin- During the afternoon of September 1, 2023, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call reporting a one-vehicle, rollover crash on Hwy 81 near City D, in Platteville Township. According to the caller, the car was upside-down and the driver was injured.
The investigating deputy learned that Jesse Juisto, 41, of Platteville, was driving a 2004 Acura going west on Hwy 81 just passing City D. The tire marks on the road indicated that Juisto’s vehicle left the road to the right just past City D, continued on the shoulder a short distance, crossed the center line and then back across the westbound lane, and into the ditch where the vehicle caught and then rolled over, landing on the roof. Juisto got out of the vehicle on his own. When the deputy talked to him, he admitted he was going “way too fast and being stupid.” He also admitted to drinking multiple beers not long before the crash. After an investigation, Juisto was arrested for OWI, 1st Offense.
Juisto was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries from the crash. At the hospital, the deputy issued the OWI citation and then requested a legal blood draw. Juisto was eventually released to a responsible party.
The evidentiary blood sample was sent to the state hygiene lab for analysis, and the Sheriff’s Office is awaiting the results of that test.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Southwest Health EMS as well as the Platteville Fire Department.
Persons arrested and/or referred for charges by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. An arrest only indicates probable cause exists to bring formal charges. The names of victims and witnesses to a crime have been withheld, per Wisconsin Statute §950.04.
