Grant County Wisconsin: In the Township of Waterloo, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a one vehicle crash on Hwy 133 near Oak Ln at approximately 10:35am on July 9, 2023.
Jesse Sahr, 44, of rural Cassville, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 133 in his 2000 ISUZU Rodeo. Sahr had to negotiate a left-hand curve on the highway. Sahr’s vehicle left the roadway on the south side (right side) of the roadway and enteredthe gravel shoulder and ditch. During the overcorrection, Sahr returned to the roadway spinning counterclockwise, then rolled onto its roof on Hwy 133 westbound. The car rolled and Sahr was ejected because he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.Sahr sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Grant County Coroner.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Cassville Fire Department, Cassville EMS, Wisconsin State Patrol, the Grant County Coroner’s Office, and Bennett’s Towing of Lancaster.
The crash remains under investigation.
Hit and Run Involving Injury
July 10, 2023,
On July 2, 2023, at approximately 03:20 AM, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a hit-and-run that had occurred at 140 S Northern Avenue in the Village of Burley.
After an investigation into the matter by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. It was determined that the victim, Zachary A Walter age 40 of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, had been entering the front passenger seat of a blue, 2004 Town and Country van. While Walter had been entering the vehicle, Gabriel A Duran age 18 of Bagley, Wisconsin had been traveling north bound on South Northern Avenue and had been operating a white, 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Duran sideswiped the Town and Country van that Walter had been entering. As a result, Walter was struck on the face by the passenger door, causing injury. Duran then fled the scene.
Duran and the Jeep were located by Grant County Deputies a few hours later at a nearby residence. Following the initial investigation, Duran was taken into custody for Hit and Run Involving Injury and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and was transported to the Grant County Jail for booking.
Walter was transported by EMS to Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien and was later transferred to Gunderson Lacrosse due to his injuries. Assisting on scene was Bagley First Responders and West Grant EMS.
Further charges may be filed as a result of the investigation at this time.
When a person has been arrested or referred for charges by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, they are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A conviction for a crime is the result of the police arresting a suspect. Unfortunately, the names of victims and witnesses have been withheld.
