By a 3 to 2 vote, the Asbury City Council voted against an ordinance governing ATVs and UTVs on Tuesday. The ordinance would have allowed 24-hour operation in accordance with Iowa law.

In the years following the permissiveness of ATVs and UTVs in Dubuque County, the Sheriff’s Department provided information on incidents. Captain Ryan Kremer reported no major complaints or problems. There were only 4 ATV/UTVaccidents. Local police chiefs say they have no incidents. 

It came down to local elections in the fall and a petition filed against the ordinance by community members concerned about noise and safety.
