Champayne Jackson, 23, of Dubuque was sentenced to 12 years in prison Monday. This is due to a plea to three counts of child engagement and neglect or abandonment of a dependent person.

In June of last year, she left her baby and her 2-year-old unattended for a couple of minutes in a bathtub. The baby nearly drowned in the tub. The child was airlifted to Iowa City and it was revealed that the child suffered severe permanent brain damage.
