Today, the Jackson County Sheriff received two calls about a man suffering from mental illness and alcoholism. One call came from the wife locked in the bathroom who feared for her life, who told police he cut himself with a knife. The second was from his employer.
Deputies learned that there were no firearms in the home, and responded. They made contact with the male subject, who then pointed a gun that was later to be determined to be an air pistol. Deputies deployed one less lethal device that impacted the man and the man retreated into the home, then exited to be taken into custody.
Jackson County EMS treated the man and the was transported to Mercy One.
It was the professionalism of the Jackson Sheriff’s Deputies and Agencies involved in saving lives today.
