DUBUQUE, IA — New court filings have provided additional details regarding the arrest of a Dubuque man on Thursday evening. Ricky Lee Pottebaum, 58, appeared in court today following an arrest for allegedly purchasing prostitution services.

According to the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center, Pottebaum was taken into custody at 1856 Central Avenue on April 23, 2026, at 6:41 PM. Court records reveal that the arrest was the result of a warrant originally issued on April 8, 2026, following a criminal complaint filed by the Dubuque Police Department earlier that month.

Officer D. R. Doerges was the arresting officer on the scene.

On April 24, 2026, the case of State of Iowa vs. Ricky Lee Pottebaum (Case: 01311 AGCR163762) moved forward with several key legal actions:

• Bond Set: During an initial appearance before Judge Robert J. Richter, bond was set at $2,500 cash or approved surety.

• Discovery Order: Judge Kellyann M. Lekar issued an order for discovery, a standard procedure where the prosecution and defense exchange evidence.

• Legal Representation: Records indicate an appearance was filed by attorney Amanda Jane Lassance.

• Pre-Trial Evaluation: A pre-trial release evaluation was conducted by the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) Dubuque.

Upcoming Proceedings

A preliminary hearing in the matter has been scheduled for May 4, 2026, at 10:50 AM at the Dubuque County Courthouse.
