Dubuque, Iowa — Clarke University is inviting the greater Dubuque community and beyond to its annual Clarke Fest 2026, a vibrant, family-friendly street festival celebrating student creativity, arts, and community connection. Set for Saturday, April 25, 2026, the event will transform Clarke Drive into a lively gathering spot from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

The free, all-ages celebration highlights the work of Clarke students, faculty, and staff while offering entertainment, food, and interactive experiences open to the public. Organizers describe it as a carnival-like atmosphere filled with music, art, games, and fun for all.

Event Details and Location

Clarke Fest will take place on Clarke Drive at Clarke University (1550 Clarke Drive, Dubuque, IA). Clarke Drive will close from Mary Frances Clarke Hall to Terence Donaghoe Hall Theatre for the duration of the event. All university parking lots will remain open with free parking available.

In the event of inclement weather, activities will move indoors to the Robert & Ruth Kehl Center. The festival is co-sponsored by Arts at Clarke, the Clarke Activities Board, and the Clarke Student Association, emphasizing student-led initiatives.

Additional Opportunities for Prospective Students

High school students and families interested in Clarke University can arrive early for Clarke Preview Day, scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. This includes campus tours, meetings with Admissions staff, and the chance to participate in Clarke Fest activities afterward. It provides a seamless way to explore the university while enjoying the festival.

Context and Significance

Clarke Fest has grown into a beloved annual tradition in Dubuque, bridging the university campus with the wider Tri-State community (Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin). Dr. Rob Stull, Chair of the Arts at Clarke Committee, has highlighted how the event relies on student leadership and celebrates the talents of the campus community while inviting neighbors to join in the festivities.

The festival aligns with Clarke University’s mission as a private Catholic liberal arts institution, promoting arts engagement, community service, and holistic student development. Past iterations have featured similar mixes of live entertainment, interactive elements, and local vendors, consistently drawing positive turnout for their accessible, fun atmosphere.

Practical Information

•  Admission: Free and open to the public.

•  Accessibility: The event aims to be family-friendly and inclusive; indoor relocation ensures continuity in poor weather.

Whether you’re a longtime community member, a prospective student, or simply looking for free weekend fun with the family, the event promises something for everyone in a safe, engaging outdoor (or indoor) setting.

As Dubuque continues to thrive with a mix of cultural, educational, and community events — including the overlapping Julien Dubuque International Film Festival around the same weekend — Clarke Fest stands out as an accessible highlight that strengthens town-gown relationships.

Mark your calendars and plan to join the fun on April 25. Rain or shine, Clarke University looks forward to welcoming the community for an evening of creativity, connection, and celebration.
