Major Street Upgrades Underway
The newsletter details the 2026 Asphalt Overlay Program, which will enhance approximately 10 miles of city streets across more than 60 sections. Crews will mill existing pavement, recycle materials on-site, and apply fresh asphalt to create smoother, safer roads. The project also incorporates ADA-compliant curb ramps where needed.
Funded entirely through Iowa’s Road Use Tax Fund, the program imposes no special assessments on property owners. Construction begins in April and continues through October. Affected residents will receive advance notifications by mail regarding parking restrictions and project timelines. Most individual street segments are expected to take about one week to complete.
Arts & Culture Grant Opportunities
Applications are currently open for two key grant programs supporting local nonprofits:
• Capacity Building Grant: Up to $8,000 available for strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, leadership development, and volunteer management. Deadline: April 24, 2026.
• Operating Support Grant: Funding for 501(c)(3) organizations that provide arts and cultural experiences. Recent awards have ranged from $707 to $22,896. Deadline: April 17, 2026.
Since 2005, the City has invested more than $5 million through these programs, helping sustain arts workers and delivering measurable economic benefits to the community. Full guidelines and online application forms are available at cityofdubuque.org/artsgrants.
