DUBUQUE, Iowa — Christopher Robert Comeau, 43, was arrested at 9:25 a.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 816 Rose St. on a felony charge of assault committed by a person against whom a protected order was issued.

He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, contempt for violating a no-contact/protective order, and obstruction of emergency communication (Dubuque police case AR 2026002035).

The arrest occurred at a residential address in Dubuque. Comeau is in custody at the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Comeau has prior convictions, including a 2022 second-offense domestic assault in the area and a 2003 Illinois conviction for aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He is a registered sex offender in Dubuque County.
