Have you ever wondered about the general mobile radio service? Well, it’s now available to the Dubuque community. Thanks to the Dubuque GMRS radio club and their repeaters, you can now enjoy free radio communication. All you need is an FCC license, which costs just $35. There’s no test required, and the license is valid for 10 years, allowing your entire family to have fun talking on the radio towers.
The radio repeaters cover the entire city of Dubuque and Dubuque County, providing reliable two-way communication. And the best part? The radios are even more affordable than having a cell phone for your teenager, and there’s no monthly billing.
To get started, you can join the Dubuque GMRS radio club on Facebook or visit the FCC website and go under general mobile radio service to set up an account. It’s incredibly easy to do and get started today.
Remember, you don’t have to be a club member to use the repeaters. You can talk on them anytime you like. So, why wait? You’re missing out on this fantastic opportunity to enjoy GMRS radio.
Additionally, there are GMRS club nets on Sunday nights and Wednesday nights. Even during severe weather, there are severe weather nets to help keep track of storms as they pass through, allowing you to contribute to community safety. These gatherings provide a great opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and be part of the action on GMRS radio. There’s so much more to this, and you can be part of it.
