DUBUQUE, Iowa — Richard Clair Lewis was taken into custody early Saturday after authorities responded to a disturbance involving a displayed dangerous weapon and intoxication.

Lewis, 61, was arrested at 3:43 a.m. March 22, 2026, at 929 High Bluff St. on two misdemeanor charges:

1.  Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon (aggravated misdemeanor).

2.  Public Intoxication (simple misdemeanor).

The incident occurred at a residential address in the Point neighborhood. The report lists responding officer Mcclain, C.

Lewis remains in custody at the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center. No bond, victim details, weapon information or court date have been released.

The aggravated-misdemeanor assault charge carries up to two years in jail and a $6,250 fine. Public intoxication is punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
