DUBUQUE, Iowa — Tyler Joseph Huseman, 28, of Dubuque, was arrested early Saturday morning on a felony failure to appear warrant stemming from prior criminal proceedings, along with misdemeanor charges of interference with official acts and public intoxication.
According to Dubuque Police Department records, officers took Huseman into custody at approximately 6:27 a.m. on March 14, 2026, at 770 Iowa St. in Dubuque.
The primary charge is Failure to Appear – Felony Arrest (felony), which typically involves missing a required court appearance for a felony-level case. Additional charges include:
• Interference with Official Acts – No Injury/Damage (misdemeanor): This charge often arises when an individual allegedly hinders, resists, or obstructs law enforcement or other officials during the performance of their duties without causing physical harm or property damage.
• Public Intoxication (misdemeanor): Indicating Huseman was allegedly intoxicated in a public place to the point of endangering himself, others, or property, or annoying/offending the public.
Court documents show the failure to appear warrant relates to a prior case involving a third or subsequent offense of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) under Iowa Code 321J.2(2)(c), originally charged as a Class D felony. Huseman pleaded guilty via negotiated/voluntary plea on May 13, 2025, before Judge Robert J. Richter. Sentencing included a 5-year prison term (with 4 years suspended and 1 year in a residential facility), a $3,125 fine, and 5 years of probation. A separate count of driving while barred was dismissed.
The current arrest appears tied to non-compliance with conditions from that 2025 adjudication, such as probation violations or failure to appear for related hearings. Additional criminal complaints were filed by the Dubuque Police Department on February 28, 2026, leading to the active warrant.
Huseman has prior interactions with the Dubuque criminal justice system, including earlier OWI convictions and other arrests reported in local media over the years.
He was booked into the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center. No further details on bond, arraignment, or current status were immediately available from public records.
Authorities remind the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
