Cassville Township, Grant County, Wisconsin — A 31-year-old rural Cassville man died early Friday in a single-vehicle crash on Settlement Road near Settlement Lane.
At approximately 12:15 a.m. on February 20, 2026, Nicholas Busch was driving westbound in a 2006 Pontiac Montana when the vehicle crossed the centerline, left the roadway, and struck a tree. Busch, the sole occupant, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded after receiving an automated crash alert, joined by Cassville Fire Department, Cassville EMS, the Grant County Coroner’s Office, and B&M Towing.
Road conditions were slippery due to adverse winter weather. This incident marks Grant County’s second traffic fatality of 2026.
The investigation is ongoing, with no additional contributing factors released at this time. Authorities continue to emphasize seatbelt use and caution during inclement weather on rural roads.
