STITZER, WI — A two-vehicle crash occurred at 7:22 a.m. on February 6, 2026, at the intersection of Hwy 61 and Liberty Ridge Rd. in Liberty Township, Grant County.

Mary Kopp, 65, of Stitzer, drove a 2011 Chevy Express van. She stopped at the stop sign on Liberty Ridge Rd., then proceeded into Hwy 61 and failed to yield to a southbound 2020 Chrysler Voyager driven by Lynn Gilkes, 51, of Fennimore.

Gilkes attempted to avoid the collision, but the vehicles struck in the middle of Hwy 61, blocking the road. Both were totaled and towed from the scene.

Kopp wore her seatbelt and had minor injuries but refused transport. She had seven unrestrained passengers, none injured.

Gilkes wore her seatbelt, reported chest pain, and also refused transport.

Kopp was cited for failing to yield right of way from a stop sign and multiple counts of failing to properly restrain passengers.
