DUBUQUE, Iowa — Bailey S. Foht, 26, was sentenced to 27 years in prison February 2, 2026, in Dubuque County District Court for causing the death of Kalissa Reeder in a hit-and-run crash.
Foht pleaded guilty last December to homicide by vehicle while operating under the influence (Class B felony) and driving while barred. Judge Michael Shubatt handed down a 25-year term for the homicide count and a consecutive two-year term for the barred driving offense, matching the state’s plea recommendation.
The incident occurred June 12, 2025, when Foht struck 38-year-old Reeder as she crossed Locust Street, then fled. Reeder died from her injuries. Foht was arrested the following day.
Additional charges, including reckless homicide by vehicle and leaving the scene, were dropped under the agreement.
