Asbury, IA – January 26, 2026, 10:07 a.m.
The Asbury Fire Department responded Monday morning to a structure fire at 6526 Asbury Rd.
Crews found the garage fully involved with heavy fire and smoke. All occupants and a dog evacuated safely; no civilian injuries reported.
Initial interior attack failed to stop fire spread. Operations shifted to defensive mode. Fire controlled around 1:30 p.m.
The residence suffered extensive damage and is a total loss.
The American Red Cross is assisting displaced family members.
Investigation ongoing by Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office; no suspicion of foul play at this time.
Assisting agencies: Sherrill, Centralia-Peosta, and Dubuque fire departments; Asbury Police Department; Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office; Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office.
