DUBUQUE, Iowa — Evan R. Schmitt, 29, of Dubuque, entered a plea agreement this week in Dubuque County District Court on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Schmitt was arrested June 26, 2025, at his Wildwood Drive home. He faced six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of possessing depictions of a minor in a sex act, per police reports. Authorities said he possessed and distributed child sex abuse material multiple times via messaging app in summer 2024.
The plea deal, reported locally, resolves the case with some counts likely dismissed. The presiding Judge Michael J Schubatt. Sentencing is pending.
