Dubuque, Iowa – January 8, 2026

At 6:14 p.m. on Wednesday, the Dubuque Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 1991 Rockdale Road.

Nineteen firefighters from Engine 1, Engine 5, Engine 6, Truck 1, Truck 4, Medic 1, and Battalion 1 arrived to find light smoke emitting from the eaves. The homeowner reported smoke and fire in the attic, and all occupants had safely evacuated before crews arrived.

Firefighters accessed the attic, applied water starting at 6:28 p.m., and controlled the blaze by 6:39 p.m. after ventilation and overhaul.

A fire investigator determined the cause was arcing electrical wiring. Damages are estimated at $20,000. The American Red Cross assisted the homeowner. No injuries were reported.
