Dubuque, Iowa – January 6, 2026

The Dubuque City Council welcomed new members today in a swearing-in ceremony at the Historic Federal Building.

New Members

Newcomers Chris Staver (at-large)

Tyson Leyendecker (Ward 1)

joined reelected Mayor Brad Cavanagh and continuing council members David Resnick (at-large), Laura Roussell (Ward 2), Danny Sprank (Ward 3), and Katy Wethal (Ward 4).

Staver replaces longtime incumbent Ric Jones, while Leyendecker succeeds Susan Farber, who did not seek reelection.

The council pledged focus on public safety, housing, and infrastructure in the new term. The first meeting followed the ceremony.
