AMES, Iowa – Oct. 21, 2025 – Bridge maintenance improvements on the U.S. 20 Bridge (Julien Dubuque) over the Mississippi River in Dubuque will involve detouring traffic.

Work is scheduled to begin construction season 2026.

Traffic will be detoured during construction. The detour uses U.S. 20 in Dubuque to the U.S.-61/151 Iowa-Wisconsin Bridge crossing. Once in Wisconsin, traffic will use Wisconsin Highways 11/35 to Illinois Highway 35 to return to U.S. 20 in East Dubuque. The map below shows the detour route for both directions.
