Dubuque, IA – September 11, 2025 – Authorities in Dubuque took a 34-year-old l man into custody early Thursday morning on a felony charge of going armed with intent to use a dangerous weapon against another person.

Taylor Jordan D., a male, was arrested at approximately 12:04 a.m. at 620 Iowa St., near the city’s bustling downtown area. The charge, classified as a Class D felony under Iowa Code Section 708.8, carries potential penalties of up to five years in prison and fines reaching $7,500 upon conviction.

According to the Dubuque Police Department’s daily bulletin, the arrest stemmed from an incident where officers responded to reports of a potential threat involving a weapon. Specific details regarding the nature of the alleged intent or the type of weapon involved have not been publicly released, pending further investigation. No injuries were reported in connection with the event.

Taylor was booked into the Dubuque County Jail, where he faces a $5,000 cash bond set by Magistrate N.R. Goedken. As of midday Thursday, he remained in custody awaiting an initial court appearance.

The charge of going armed with intent requires prosecutors to prove that the individual knowingly carried a dangerous weapon—such as a firearm, knife, or other instrument capable of causing serious injury—with the specific purpose of using it against another person. This distinguishes it from lesser weapons offenses, like simple carrying, which are typically misdemeanors.

The case will proceed through Dubuque County District Court. Taylor is presumed innocent until proven guilty
