DUBUQUE, Iowa – The City of Dubuque has announced a temporary closure of a portion of the Lower Bee Branch Trail along the 16th Street Detention Basin, scheduled from Tuesday, September 9, through Tuesday, September 23, 2025. The closure is necessary to facilitate work on the Bee Branch Gates and Pumping Station Project, a key component of the city’s ongoing flood mitigation efforts.

The affected section of the trail runs along the north side of the detention basin, from Sycamore Street to Kerper Boulevard. During this period, trail users are advised to use 16th Street as an alternative route. Clear trail closure signs will be posted to guide pedestrians and cyclists, ensuring safety and awareness.

The Bee Branch Gates and Pumping Station Project is part of the broader Bee Branch Watershed Flood Mitigation Project, which aims to reduce flood risks and enhance infrastructure resilience in the area.
