An incident on June 29, 2025, in the Village of Bagley, Wisconsin, has led to an ongoing investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 12:43 a.m., authorities responded to a call regarding an individual in need of medical attention behind the Ship Wreck Bar.

Following an altercation outside the bar, a victim was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to Gundersen Medical Center in LaCrosse. As a result of the initial investigation, Jason Britton, 34, of Colona, Illinois, was taken into custody and booked into the Grant County Jail for disorderly conduct. Britton posted bond and was released.

Tragically, one of the parties involved in the altercation was found deceased at their residence in Fennimore, Wisconsin, on June 30, 2025. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Grant County Coroner’s Office and UW-Hospital to determine the cause and manner of death, which may take several weeks to complete.
