DUBUQUE COUNTY, IA — Dubuque County officials have issued a road notification for a major construction project on Old Highway Rd, involving culvert repairs and paving between Peosta and Farley. The project is set to commence on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 7:00 AM, impacting a 2,008-foot section of the road.
The project will be executed in three phases. Phase 1 begins with culvert work between Epworth and Farley, starting June 9. This phase includes a complete road closure between Hartbecke Rd and Fishpond Rd, with additional lane closures at three locations between Fishpond Rd and Boge Rd. A detour will be in place to accommodate traffic during this period, which is expected to last 2-3 weeks, depending on weather conditions.
Phase 2 will involve further culvert repairs between Peosta and Epworth, featuring lane closures at specific spots. This phase will not require a full road closure or detour, and an updated map and details will be provided closer to the start date.
Phase 3 will focus on road resurfacing across the Peosta-to-Farley stretch. Traffic management will include a pilot car and flaggers to ensure safety during this final stage.
Motorists are urged to follow detour signs and exercise caution in the construction zones. Updates will be provided as the project progresses, particularly regarding Phase 2 scheduling and conditions. For more information, residents may contact Dubuque County road services.
