
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — Authorities are investigating an attempted assault reported on the evening of February 10, 2025, in downtown Platteville. At approximately 7:30 p.m., an adult woman walking near the intersection of West Main Street, Hickory Street, and Washington Street was approached by a male driver in a black four-door sedan who demanded she enter his vehicle.
According to the victim’s account, the driver shouted at her to get into the car as she walked along West Main Street. When she continued moving, the suspect stopped the vehicle, exited, and began approaching her from behind. The woman fled on foot and escaped unharmed. The suspect’s car was last seen traveling northbound on Washington Street from Main Street.
The victim could not provide a physical description of the suspect due to limited visibility but noted the vehicle had no functioning license plate light. The Platteville Police Department has launched an investigation and urges anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s vehicle to contact them immediately at 608-348-2313.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. No further details about the suspect or vehicle have been released as the investigation continues.
