On December 15th, 2023 at 8:43 A.M., Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle accident with injuries near the intersection of W. Stagecoach Trail and W. Heller Lane in rural Galena, IL. 

Upon arrival, it was discovered that a vehicle driven by Lidia Bautista Sanchez, 41, of East Dubuque, IL was traveling eastbound on W. During the climb, she began losing traction due to the slick road conditions. Once her vehicle lost traction, she entered the westbound lane before retaking the eastbound lane and ultimately entering the ditch on the south side of the road. Upon entering the ditch, Sanchez’s vehicle struck an embankment and a small tree before rolling onto itstop. In the accident, Sanchez and her passenger Anabel Perez Trujillon, 37, of Galena, Illinois, received minor injuries and were taken to Midwest Medical.

The accident was determined to be caused by slick road conditions, causing the vehicle to lose traction and ultimately crash. Both the driver and passenger were transported to Midwest Medical for treatment of their injuries.
