Authorities have yet to identify the motive behind the shooting. The incident has shaken the small town of Monticello, with many residents expressing shock and sadness at the loss of a beloved member of the community. The family of the victim has asked for privacy during this difficult time.

According to officials, around 7:30 Tuesday November 7th in the morning Nathan Russell from East Dubuque, Illinois, and Aaron McAtee, an employee at Fairway food store, had a heated argument at the store. Sadly, McAtee was shot by Russell near the loading dock and later died in the hospital. After leaving the store, Russell was found by a Delaware deputy sheriff who tried to arrest him. However, Russell did not cooperate, so the deputy fired a shot at him. Russell is now hospitalized due to his injuries. At present, authorities are still investigating the incident.
