Update: Following an altercation involving his father’s assault on a friend and brandishing of a sword, the 16-year-old was expelled from his residence. A video shared on Snap Chat by his girlfriend, Melissa Hollis, showcased her delight in her boyfriend’s release from custody and the subsequent eviction of the 16-year-old from his own home.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered Eric Heim in possession of a sword and a baseball bat outside his residence located at 1905 Jackson Street. Subsequently, an investigation revealed that Mr. Heim was in violation of two distinct charges. Consequently, he was apprehended and transported to the Dubuque County Jail. He was subsequently released on bail pending a court hearing.
The minor victim was seen in the video repeatedly punching Mr. Heim, who was heard using a racial slur as he left the scene. This video rapidly spread online and sparked a wave of public outrage towards Mr. Heim’s behavior.

Mr. Heim is currently in the Dubuque County Jail on a $5,300.00 Bond awaiting court.
