On October 26, 2022, at approximately 3:45 PM, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle crash on Model Road in Smelser Township.

Ronald A. Spark, 43 of Dubuque, IA, was traveling east on Model Road in a 2016 Subaru, attempting to turn into a driveway to deliver a package.

Cody L. Houtakker, 17 of Cuba City, was traveling west in a 2008 GMC pickup. Houtakker noticed the Subaru start to turn into the driveway and attempted to avoid the crash. Spark crashed into Houtakker in the driveway. The crash caused severe damage to both vehicles and an injury to Houtakker. He was transported to Finley Hospital in Dubuque by private vehicle.

Spark was cited for failure to yield right of way while making a left turn.
