On 10/06/2022, at approximately 9:53am, the Grant County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a crash involving a truck hitting a utility pole on Highway 80/81 in Smelser Township.
After an investigation, it was determined that Janecia Allbee, age 24 of Lancaster, was traveling north on Highway 80/81, in a 2007 Ford F150 when she lost control of the vehicle. Allbee ended up crossing the centerline, crossed the oncoming lane and entered the ditch on the west side of the roadway. Allbee’s vehicle narrowly missed colliding with a 2009 Chrysler Sebring that was parked on the west side of the road due to a flat tire. Allbee’s vehicle continued off the roadway and struck a utility pole before it came to a stop just inside a cornfield. Allbee was transported to Southwest Health Center for minor injuries. Allbee’s vehicle was removed from the scene by Precision Towing. The Chrysler sustained minor damage due to the wires from the utility pole striking the top of the vehicle when it fell. The Chrysler was removed from the scene by Al’s Towing services.
The Cuba City Police Department, Platteville Fire Department, and Southwest Health EMS assisted The Grant County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash remains under investigation.
